A subject must stir Kathryn’s emotions before she can portray it in paint. Through story Kathryn work to bridge the space between the tangible and the ephemeral. She works mainly in oil, acrylic and dry media; materials that allow her to express the vision intuitively and immediately.
Kathryn approaches each piece from a unique perspective — allowing her work to stay fresh, which keeps the process ever evolving and expanding.
Born in Alberta, Kathryn attended University of Lethbridge, where she studied Fine Arts and Psychology.
As a young teen she was awarded scholarships to The Alberta College of Art and the Banff School of Fine Arts. Painting has always been a part of her life.
She has since pursued her creative passion by taking classes and workshops and otherwise expanding her talents and experience wherever she is able. Her creative influences are mainly expressive figurative artists like Jenny Savillle, Peter Doig, John Hartman and Chris Gwaltney.
Kathryn is thrilled to be returning to the Coldwater & Area Studio Tour again this year.
