Ann is best known for her large acrylic floral paintings but most recently has been spending time developing skills in watercolours. Painting mainly from her own photography, she tries through her brush strokes to share the movement, strength and tenderness that prompted her to take that photo and then to bring it back to life. Ann likes to refer to her style as “Realism with a Twist”
Born and raised in Toronto, I have always enjoyed working with my hands and the peace it brings to my life. No matter how stressful life becomes, a half hour with a brush and I’m not quite sure what that stress was all about.
I volunteer and have exhibited at Quest Art Gallery and School in Midland, I also belong to Blue Mountain Foundation of Arts, Coldwater Studio Tour and The Toronto West Art Collective, taking part in various exhibitions and studio tours.
I took an art class hoping to meet people with similar interests and I found my passion. I signed up for every workshop and seminar offered and took many classes from visiting artists as well as regular in studio classes. I moved from decorative art to fine art, from acrylics to oils and back to acrylics
I have been fortunate enough to spend time in this area on weekends for decades and in 2010 I was able to move to Victoria Harbour.
This area is rich in natural beauty, offering a never ending abundance of subjects to paint, and many very talented artists sharing knowledge
I am presently painting in acrylics and watercolours and am enjoying the challenge of working with a limited palette, always striving to bring myself to another level.
